Secure E-mailTo continue to improve the way we communicate with patients while protecting confidential information, Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare has implemented an e-mail encryption system. Using the ZixCorp E-mail Encryption System, e-mail communications containing Electronic Protected Health Information (ePHI) and other personally identifiable information like social security numbers, medical record numbers, date of birth, and account numbers will be kept confidential with an encryption process, which changes the content of e-mails to make them unreadable to an unauthorized recipient. In addition, we will use e-mail encryption when we are transmitting other highly confidential information. E-mail encryption is another way we’re taking responsibility to protect private information. We appreciate that the implementation of e-mail encryption may cause some additional work on your part, and we thank you in advance for partnering with us on this effort. When you receive an e-mail that has been encrypted by the ZixCorp E-mail Encryption System two possible outcomes will occur:
